It is important for the Syrian American community to understand and work with the various political and economic interests dedicated to effective U.S. policy towards the Syrian government. We will continually reach out to candidates and current elected officials to show our support for those who advance positive solutions to US policy toward Syria. To be as effective as possible, the PAC and our community members and supporters need to work together to actively engage in the political process like so many other groups in the United States.

The Free Syria PAC will contribute to the campaign committees of current members of Congress and candidates, particularly key federal lawmakers in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. The Free Syria PAC will not participate in state, county, or local elections. The Free Syria PAC will contribute to candidates who either have key roles on congressional committees responsible for Syrian American-related issues or have demonstrated their support for a free and democratic Syria.

Today there are many successful Syrian Americans in almost every profession and community in American society. We have continuously excelled in law, medicine, education, media, etc. However, for many years, the Syrian American community has lacked in one area – politics, and the work of the Free Syria PAC is the last piece of the puzzle. The American political system is largely dependent on financial contributions from PACs that play a significant role in the American electoral system. According to the FEC, PACs contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to federal candidates in any one election cycle. The importance of PACs, and especially ones like the Free Syria PAC, have become significantly more important with recent events. With the Free Syria PAC, we will allow our communities to pull together our resources for maximum impact on Congress.
